MONMOUTH, Ore. - Kalani Zoller has been named as an honorable mention on the 2009 Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division II All-American team, Monday, Feb. 8.
Zoller, a defensive tackle from Marysville, Wash. (Marysville-Pilchuck High School), helped anchor the Wolves' defensive line during his junior season. He earned first team All-GNAC honors and an All-West Region selection for the first time this season. He finished the year with 26 tackles, to go along with 3.5 tackles for loss and half a sack. Zoller also added two quarterback hurries.
Zoller was one of three selections from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. He joins Central Washington's Buddy Wood, a second team honoree at linebacker, and Eugene Germany, an honorable mention defensive lineman, on the national team.
Zoller is the Wolves' second defensive lineman selected to the All-American squad in the last two seasons. Last year, Matt Cox was named to the All-American first team.
This marks the 22nd year Don Hansen's Football Gazette, a recognized authority on small college football, has selected an NCAA Division II All-America team. The national publication selected All-Region teams with the first team and second-team All-Region players from each of the four geographic regions comprising the national ballot, which were voted upon by a select national panel.
A total of 157 players earned some form of Football Gazette All-America honors. Players from 83 of the 150 football-playing schools in Division II earned Football Gazette All-America accolades. National Champion NW Missouri State and national quarterfinalist West Liberty State led the way by placing seven players apiece on All-America squad, while national semifinalist California (Pa.) had six honorees.
