Was a standout runner for the Wolves from 1968 to 1972...Won the NAIA national title in the 800 meters as a senior...Placed third in the same event as a junior to earn All-American honors...Was a four-time conference champion...Also won the NAIA District 2 title four consecutive years...Once held school records in the 400 and 800 meters and also as a member of the 4 x 400 relay team...Nearly 35 years later, still holds the school record in the 800 with a sizzling time of 1:49.70...His 400 meter mark of 48.14 is second in the school’s record books...WOU won four straight district titles with Vogel leading the way...Named the school’s Outstanding Athlete in 1972.
