MONMOUTH, Ore. - Five men and six women from the Western Oregon University cross country team were named to the 2009 Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-academic team, Thursday (Nov. 13).
Justin Karr, a junior from Tigard, Ore. (Tigard High School) led all male student-athletes with a 3.99 grade point average as a Psychology and Social Science major. He was also one of three repeat selections on the all-academic team for the Wolves along with
Brandon Snook and
Braxton Jackson. Joining them on the team were first-time recipients
Matt McCrary and
Dan Sprinkle.
Annan Applebee and
Alee Rowley were the repeat winners for the women while
Erika Snawder,
Amanda Wright,
Zoe Skordahl and
KayAnna Cecchi all earned the honor for the first time.
There were a total of 73 student-athletes named to the GNAC academic team; 23 men and 50 women. To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
