DOMINGUEZ HILLS, Calif.
- The Western Oregon baseball team swept both games of a doubleheader from Cal State Dominguez Hills, 8-4 and 6-5, on Friday (Feb. 11), to earn a split in the four-game series.

The win means the Wolves wrapped up their California road trip with a 3-5 record against two top 20 teams, including No. 1 UC San Diego.

The Wolves were finally able to get the timely hits and shutdown innings to play their best back-to-back games of the season.

Bo Folkinga went 5-for-7 with two RBI and three runs scored in the doubleheader, while Grant Glover went 4-for-8 with three runs scored and four RBI out of the leadoff spot.

Game 1
Josh Wilson pitched eight strong innings and Daniel Dillard drove in four runs to lift Western Oregon past Cal State Dominguez Hills, 8-4, in the opener.

Wilson fought through a rough first inning to give WOU eight solid innings and pick up his first win in a Wolves' uniform. He allowed nine hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out five and walking two. He gave up a home run and double to the first two batters of the game but settled in and allowed the Toros to score just two more runs in the game.

After CSUDH came out with two runs to take the lead, Dillard hit a three-run homer in the third inning to take a one-run lead (3-2).

WOU tacked on two more in the fourth on singles by Glover and Andy Fox, before adding three in the ninth. Travis Bradshaw came into the game and pitched a perfect ninth inning, while striking out one, to secure the win.

Dillard finished the game going 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Glover added three hits out of the leadoff spot to go along with two runs batted in and three runs scored. Michael Chiarelli, Aaron Headrick and Folkinga each added a multi-hit game as WOU outhit CSUDH 14-9.

Game 2
The Wolves rallied for five runs in the fourth inning to come from behind and defeat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 6-5, in the second game of the doubleheader.

WOU entered the fourth down 5-1 after the Toros had scored in each of the first three innings. The fourth started with the Wolves putting their first two runners on. They would score their first run on a Toro's error and then continued to tack on. Folkinga drove in one on a single through the left side then Glover added two more on an opposite field hit. Chiarelli capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to put the Wolves up one (6-5).

"We stuck with our plan and battled every at-bat," said Western Oregon head coach Jeremiah Robbins."We had very good at-bats today and we are continuing to get better as the season continues."

The bullpen then took over and pitched the final four innings allowing only three hits and no runs to earn the Wolves the victory. Gavin Hite picked up the win in relief. He took over with the bases loaded and one out in the third and got out of the inning unscathed. Ian MacDougall had a perfect appearance out of the pen as he got Toro's star Carlos Leyva to ground into a double play with the bases loaded in the fifth.

Kirk Lind then shut the Toros down over the final two innings for his season save of the season. He allowed just one hit while striking out two.

"He is our closer," said Robbins about Lind. "He will be in that role all season. We have faith in him and today he came in and was just dominant.

"Our kids were resilient all day long," Robbins continued. "Our last pitch of the day was our best pitch of the day."

Folkinga was the only Wolf to record a multi-hit game as he went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Leyva went 3-for-7 in the doubleheader for Cal State Dominguez Hills, including leading off each game today with a home run.
