EUGENE, Ore. – Seven field event wins and four top finishes on the track highlighted the effort for the Western Oregon University track and field team at the Lane Preview on Saturday.

Brandon Bowen had a successful meet taking first place in the shot put (15.09m, 49-6 ¼) and discus (40.16m, 131-9).
Kegan Allen made it a WOU sweep winning the hammer with a mark of 46.91 meters (153-11). Allen was followed by
Zach Smith (40.53m) and
Logan Barker (36.84m) for the Wolves to take the top three spots in the event. Connor Reinke (1.93m, 6-4) and
Kolton Koenig-Rohde (1.83m, 6-0) went 1-2 in the high jump while Koenig-Rohde took second place in the triple jump at 13.59m (44-7).

On the women's side,
Kathryn Pitts won the triple jump with an outdoor season-best mark of 10.85m (35-7 ¼) and current GNAC Field Athlete of the Week
Rachael Huffman took first place in the shot put (12.81m, 42-0 ½) and discus (41.18m, 135-1).

The running trio of
Codi Blodgett,
Devon Fortier and
Aaron Whitaker showed strong in the sprints. Blodgett ran past the field in the 100m to clock a time of 11.13. Fortier ran a time of 11.20 for second place and Whitaker took fourth at 11.22. In the 200m, it was a 2-3-4 finish for the Wolves with Blodgett posted a time of 22.85, Fortier just .01 behind at 22.86, and Whitaker another .02 behind at 22.88.

In the 800m, Thomas Normandeau ran his personal outdoor best time of 1:56.86 to take second place leading six WOU runners in the top 15 of the event.

For the WOU women,
Laura Patrick took first in the 400m race in a time of 1:01.52 while taking a fifth in the 200m at 27.25.
Nicole Maurmann made her outdoor season debut winning at 3000m in a collegiate best 10:04.72.
Sara Madden competed in both distances in the hurdles – winning at 400m (1:07.35) and taking third in the 100m (16.46).

In other track news,
Grace Knapp ran the 3000m steeplechase at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open in Portland on Saturday. Her first outdoor try in the event ended in a third-place finish at 11:24.05.

The Wolves will continue to train through Finals Week and return to the track next Saturday in Salem for the Willamette Invitational on Saturday, March 25.
