Closing a busy weekend for the Western Oregon track & field team competed on the second day of the San Francisco State Distance Carnival and in McMinnville at the Jenn Bowman Memorial Invitational. The WOU athletes turned in one school record, numerous personal bests and NCAA qualifying times.

Some of the day's best performances came from the second day of events at the Distance Carnival.

On the women's side,
Olivia Woods and
Megan Rose each earned a NCAA provisional mark in the 800m. Woods finished second with a career-best 2:08.46, setting a new Western Oregon school record in the process, while Rose also posted a personal-best 2:09.13 (WOU #2 all-time) to finish in fourth place.

Grayson Burke won her heat in the 400m at 58.42, a college career-best. In the javelin,
Rachael Huffman took fourth at 38.40m, a season-best, and
Halie Korff came in seventh at 36.16m.

Saturday saw automatic-qualifier in the 1500m
David Ribich race in the 800m and grab an early NCAA provisional mark. His time of 1:49.41 was second overall behind Oliver Aitchison of Adams State (1:48.99) and added his name again to the WOU All-Time Top-10 List at number two behind
Badane Sultessa (1:47.59).
Dustin Nading finished 10
th at the same distance with a time of 1:53.36.

In the sprints, the duo of
Codi Blodgett (11.04) and
Wesley Gray (11.13) qualified for the finals and finished in seventh and eighth place respectively.
Aaron Whitaker finished fourth in the 400m at 48.57 and
AJ Holmberg made his individual outdoor debut taking sixth in the event with a time of 49.28.

Tyler Jones went for a personal best time in the 5,000 meters at 15:22.38 while
Brandon Bowen highlighted the men's field events with a third-place finish in the shot put (14.70m, 48-2.75).

JENN BOWMAN MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL
A group of Wolves headed north on Highway 99 to compete Saturday in McMinnville at Linfield College in a meet featuring a few personal bests in the field events.

Kegan Allen had two individual best efforts in the hammer and discus. He finished fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.61m and eighth in the discus at 43.52m.
Sylvia Dean also went for a personal best in the women's hammer competition with a mark of 44.14m to take seventh while
Alecia Falck went for fifth at 44.70m.

UP NEXT
Western Oregon track & field hosts the 2017 John Knight Twilight on Friday, April 7 at McArthur Field. Field events begin at 1 p.m. while the relays begin the track program at 4 p.m.
