Ashley Potter, a senior horizontal jumper from Springfield, Ore. (Thurston HS), earned All-American honors as she placed second at the NCAA Division II Championships in the women's triple jump with a leap of 40-8.25 (12.40m). That mark shattered her own school record by 13.25 inches. The record breaking distance also moved her to the top of the GNAC record books, as she is the only female in the history of the league to eclipse the 40 foot mark. Her second place finish is the best finish ever for a Western Oregon student-athlete at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
