Jessica Wood, a sophomore pitcher from the The Dalles, Ore. (The Dalles-Wahtonka High School), was named to the all-tournament team at the Mizuno Tournament of Champions as she won two games to lift Western Oregon into the semifinals. In a 2-1 win over Hawaii Hilo in the first game of the tournament, Wood went nine innings while allowing three hits and one run while striking out 13 and walking just one. She then pitched the opening round of gold bracket play against Cal State Stanislaus, which was 5-0 in the tournament entering the game, and went seven innings allowing five hits and three runs (two earned) while walking three and striking out a season-high 14 as the Wolves won the game 4-3. For the week of Mar. 30-Apr. 5, she pitched 28 innings giving up 17 hits, 11 runs (eight earned) and seven walks while striking out 39.
