Amanda Schumaker, a junior from Gladstone, Ore. (Gladstone HS), threw a 158-11 in the javelin at the Beach Invitational to shatter the Western Oregon record by over four feet. That mark improves her NCAA Auto qualifying standard to the second-best mark in Division II this season. Schumaker, who was an All-American in the javelin last season, also registered the fifth-best mark in the history of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with that throw.
