Senior guard Devon Alexander received the GNAC tournament’s Most Valuable Player award, recording a double-double in the finals game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also had five assists and made a late three-pointer with a minute left in the game to put the Wolves up by seven points.

“Devon is a very clutch player, that is part of his identity,” said Shaw. “Around the nine minute mark, I took him out for a couple minutes because I wanted him to have a punch down the stretch.”

Western Oregon was also selected as the No. 1 seed and host institution for the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball West Regional for the first time in program history. They face the California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament champions Humboldt State in the first round of national tournament.
