For the second straight week, junior David Ribich was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Track & Field Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
 
Ribich helped in setting or improving on two Western Oregon indoor school records this weekend at the UW Invitational at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle.
 
On Friday, he ran the anchor leg of men's distance medley relay that broke the school and GNAC record with a time of 9:45.45. The time is the fastest in the country this year in the DMR and one of two NCAA automatic qualifiers.
 
He also moved to the top of the list nationally in the mile on Saturday improving on his school and GNAC record running a time of 4:02.30. Ribich's mark not only leads the NCAA but is the only automatic qualifying time at that distance.
