Box Score POMONA, Calif. - The Western Oregon University women's basketball team fell 77-57 to host Cal Poly Pomona at the GNAC/CCAA Challenge, Friday, Dec. 19.
The loss dropped the Wolves to 4-5 on the season as the Broncos improved to 5-5.
Katie Torland was the only WOU student-athlete in double-figures with 19 points. She went 8-of-10 from the free throw line and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Shayla Corder was the second-leading scorer with nine points as she shot 3-of-5 from floor and 3-of-4 from the line.
The Wolves fell behind 40-19 at halftime as they made only 32 percent of their shots (8-of-25) in the first half while the Broncos shot 54.5 percent (18-of-33) from the field. Western Oregon did shoot well from the free throw line as a team as it converted on 20-of-28 attempts.
Reyana Colson led Cal Poly Pomona in scoring with 26 points as she went 10-of-15 from the field.
"We did not start the game well," said head caoch Greg Bruce. "They came out more aggressive and took it to us in the first half."
The Western Oregon women's basketball team will continue with the GNAC/CCAA Challenge against Cal State LA, Saturday, Dec. 20, at noon.
