MBB hosts No. 24 CWU on Tuesday

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon men's basketball team opens Great Northwest Athletic Conference play this week as the Wolves play host to No. 24 Central Washington on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 6:00 p.m. Admission to the contest is $6 for adults and $4 for non-WOU students and can be purchased at the Western Oregon ticket office located inside the New PE Building.

Western Oregon enters the conference opener with a record of 3-3 on the season after the Wolves captured the Capital City Classic with wins over Pacifica and Willamette over the holiday weekend. Kyle Long and Kolton Nelson were named co-MVPs of the tournament as Tarance Glynn also took home all-tournament honors.

Guard Blair Wheedon leads the Western Oregon attack, averaging 17.3 points per contest. Long and Nelson each average 15.5 points per game for the Wolves. As a team, Western Oregon is averaging 80.7 points per contest while holding opponents to just 45.3 percent from the floor.

Central Washington, picked by league coaches to finish second in the GNAC, enters the week with a record of 4-0 on the season after defeating No. 11 Metro State and Sonoma State in the Crusader Thanksgiving Classic.

Jamar Berry leads six Wildcats in double figures at 18.3 points per game while Chris Sprinker ranks second on the squad with 18.0 points per contest. The Wildcats are averaging 89.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 56.1 percent from the floor.
