MONMOUTH, Ore. - Turnovers were once again the Achilles Heel for the Western Oregon women's basketball team as it fell to No. 19 Cal Poly Pomona 69-53 in the final game of the GNAC/CCAA Challenge on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The Wolves (0-3) turned the ball over 24 times in the contest compared to just 12 for the Broncos (2-0).

Rylee Peterson recorded her third straight game in double figures as she poured in 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting. She also grabbed six rebounds. Amber Reade led the Wolves with a career-best seven boards. She and Dana Goularte each added nine points.

Despite the turnovers the Wolves were game much of the way. They trailed by six points at the half (32-26) and cut the Broncos' lead to four (43-39) at the 12:37 mark in the second half. After that point though, things swung in favor of Cal Poly Pomona. The Broncos put together a 15-4 run to extend their lead to 15 points (58-43). They would hold that double digit lead the rest of the contest.

Charlene Popoff paced CPP with 14 points and eight rebounds. The Broncos also capitalized on their free opportunities by hitting 19-of-21 from the charity stripe.

Western Oregon won the battle of the glass for the second straight game outrebounding CPP 33 to 29. WOU used this advantage to outscore Cal Poly Pomona 14 to four on second chance points.

The Wolves will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 21. They will face their third straight opponent from the California Collegiate Athletic Association when Cal State San Marcos comes to town. Tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
