Wolves open GNAC play with win over the Wildcats

MONMOUTH, Ore.
- Jade Haas scored 23 points and Rylee Peterson registered a double-double to lead the Western Oregon women's basketball team to a 77-61 victory over Central Washington in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams, Thursday night (Dec. 1).

Haas hit 10-of-14 shots from the floor including numerous layups to set a career-high with 23 points. Peterson scored 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting, pulled down 15 rebounds and also added six blocked shots.

Western Oregon shot 63.5 percent from the field for the game and rushed out to a 24-7 lead in the first half. WOU took a 36-25 lead into the half and would push its lead to 20 in the second half as every student-athlete coach Greg Bruce play got in the scoring column.

The Wolves also held CWU to 29 percent shooting from the field and to 5-of-17 from behind the arc. Alex Dunn led the team with 19 points. 

The Wolves next game will be Saturday, Dec. 3 at home against Northwest Nazarene. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
