Monmouth, Ore. - Western Oregon men's basketball team returns to their home court after the holiday break to resume Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. The Wolves will welcome their I-5 rivals Seattle Pacific on Thursday, Dec. 29th. They will then get set to face off against Montana State Billings for a New Years Eve matinee on Dec. 31st. Tip off against SPU is at 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. against MSUB. Admission to the games is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and non-WOU students.

The Win Streak Stops at Nine:
WOU has found a way to click as team early in the season under new head coach Brady Bergeson. After their loss to Chaminade to begin the year, the Wolves strung together nine consecutive victories, but saw their streak come to an end against NCAA Division I opponent Washington State University on Dec. 18th.

With the winning streak ending at nine, it gave the Wolves a record of 9-2, which is one of their best starts in almost 20 years when the 1982-83 squad was 10-2 before their third loss, and finished 26-6.

The Wolves
Blair Wheadon leads the Wolves with 14.6 points per game. He is shooting 46.4 percent from behind the arc and 87.5 percent at the free throw line. Kyle Long is leading the team in assists with 33. James Gehring is pacing the Wolves with a 61 percent shooting percentage and 5.3 rebounds per game.

SPU comes into Thursday's matchup after winning three straight games. They were able to sweep the Hawaii Tournament with wins over Chaminade, 61-57, BYU-Hawaii, 89-76. Then the Falcons handed a loss to Dominican from California, 68-43, on their home court. Andy Polling leads the Falcons with 16.4 ppg, and also has 87 rebounds.
