SEATTLE - The Western Oregon women's basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the season as Seattle Pacific built a 39-16 lead at the half as it went on to earn a 74-51 victory over WOU on Thursday, Dec. 29.
The Falcons held the Wolves to 18 percent shooting in the first half to build their early lead. They also outrebounded the Wolves 32-17 in the opening period and went on to outboard WOU 49-27.
Nyesha Sims had 14 points and 13 rebounds to pace SPU.
Melissa Fowler was the leading scorer for Western Oregon with 14 points. She also tied for the team lead with six boards.
Rylee Peterson was the only other Wolf in double figure points with 13.
Seattle Pacific used a 16-2 run early in the contest to go up 20-4 and not look back. The teams played the second half evenly with each scoring 35 points.
The Wolves will now travel to Montana State Billings to take on the Yellowjackets Saturday, Dec. 31 at 1:00 p.m. (PST).
