MONMOUTH, Ore.
- Five Wolves scored in double-figures and Western Oregon connected on 12 3-point shots to earn an 87-70 victory over Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday, Feb. 17.

The win lifts WOU above .500 to 13-12 on the season and to 8-7 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The loss drops UAF to 5-10 in conference and to 8-14 overall.

Tarance Glynn helped Western Oregon win the battle of the boards as he posted a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Glynn also added two blocks and three steals. DeAngelo Davis came off the bench to lead the Wolves in scoring with 16 points. He scored he went 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from long range. Davis scored 13 of his 16 points in the opening period and also hauled down seven rebounds.

The Wolves got double-digit scoring efforts from every member of their starting backcourt. Blair Wheadon poured in 15 points, while Kyle Long added 14 and Jordan Freelander 11.

Western Oregon's defense held UAF to 35 percent shooting and forced them into 18 turnovers. They also limited the Nanook's prolific scorer Parrish West to a season-low 12 points, after he entered the game averaging 29.1 ppg.

Western Oregon opened a commanding 52-31 lead at the half, thanks to a 27-4 run. Trailing 20-15, WOU scored 15 consecutive points on 3-point baskets, including two each from Freelander and Davis. Davis was a sparkplug for the Wolves in their run as he scored 11 of his 13 points in the half during this stretch, which included connecting on three shots from behind the arc.

The Wolves carried that momentum into the second half and extended their lead to 29 points at the 14:03 mark and never relinquished control of the game.

The Wolves' next game will be Saturday, Feb. 19, at 7:00 p.m. against Alaska Anchorage.
