MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon women's basketball team will face the daunting road trip to The Last Frontier as they prepare to face Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks this weekend. The Wolves will open up against Anchorage on Thursday (Jan. 19) at 8:00 p.m. (PST), then close out the trip against Fairbanks on Saturday (Jan. 21) at 4:00 p.m. (PST).

The Wolves come into the weekend tied with Northwest Nazarene for sixth place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a record of 3-4 (4-13 overall). WOU won 67-53 last Saturday at Saint Martin's to snap a five-game losing streak behind Jade Haas' 15 points and a balanced scoring attack.

Rylee Peterson leads the team and ranks sixth in the GNAC with 16.2 points per game. She also ranks 11th in the league with 7.2 rebounds per contest. Jade Haas is the only other Wolf averaging double figure points this season. She is 18th in the league with 10.8 ppg and 12th with a .476 field goal percentage. Haas and Peterson also rank second and fourth in the GNAC with 2.4 and 2.2 steals per game, respectively.

Alaska Anchorage will come into the game leading the GNAC with a 6-1 record and a 15-3 mark overall. The Seawolves are pacing the conference in scoring and defense. They are putting up a league-best 80.7 ppg and allowing only 55.8 ppg. Their +13.1 rebounding margin also leads the GNAC.

Following the game with the Seawolves, WOU will travel to the heart of Alaska to face the Nanooks of Fairbanks. UAF will enter the weekend as the only winless team remaining in the GNAC. They currently sit 4-13 on the season and 0-7 in the GNAC after losing its last seven games. Nicole Bozek leads the team with 16.5 ppg and 8.3 rebounds.

Last season, the Wolves took both contests against Alaska Fairbanks but lost both against Alaska Anchorage. Western Oregon is 20-14 all-time against UAF and 11-21 against UAA.

Following this week's action, the Wolves will return home to face Montana State Billings (Jan. 26) and Seattle Pacific (Jan. 28).
