MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon women's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves host Northwest Christian in a non-conference contest on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 2:00 p.m.
WOU enters the game with a mark of 5-6 on the season after the Wolves fell to Simpson last week.
Mariah Durian continues to lead the WOU attack as the freshman is averaging 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Dana Goularte is also off to a solid start for the Wolves, ranking second on the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game while leading WOU in rebounding with 7.3 per game.
Senior guard
Lorrie Clifford is the other WOU player in double figures, averaging 12.5 points per contest as the Wolves are scoring 63.5 points per game this season.
Defensively, the Wolves continue to hold their opponents to below 40.0 percent from the field as teams are only shooting 39.8 percent against WOU. Goularte leads the defensive effort as she leads the team with 12 blocks and 30 steals.
Northwest Christian enters the weekend with a mark of 9-6 on the season as the Beacons have won three straight after a win against Corban last week. The Beacons are led by Lindsey Shearer, who leads the team in scoring at 17.2 points per game.
Admission to the contest is $6 for adults and $4 for non-WOU students and seniors as current WOU students are admitted for free with a valid identification card.
Following the game against the Beacons, WOU will return to conference play when the Wolves host Seattle Pacific on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 7:00 p.m.
