MONMOUTH, Ore. - Alaska Anchorage showed why they are the No. 11 ranked women's team in the country as they spoiled senior night for the Western Oregon women's basketball team with a 72-42 win on Saturday (Feb. 18).

Senior Jade Haas led Western Oregon with 12 points. Fellow senior Rylee Peterson grabbed a team-best nine rebounds while scoring eight points.

The Seawolves played outstanding defense throughout the contest as they held WOU to 344 percent shooting from the field, including 20 percent from three-point range. They also won the turnover battle 23-11.

Tijera Mathews led all scorers with 15 points to pace three UAA players in double figures.

Alaska Anchorage built a 33-17 lead at halftime but the Wolves fought back to make it an 11 point game with 11:50 left. However, the Seawolves then scored the next nine points to retake control of the game. 

Western Oregon will close out its regular season with a trip to Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington. The NNU game will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 23) and the CWU game will be Saturday (Feb. 25) at 7:00 p.m.
