WOU falls on the road at Simon Fraser

BURNABY, B.C. - Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Simon Fraser to a 76-66 win over the Western Oregon women's basketball team on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The first 10 minutes of the game were back-and-forth before a 9-2 run by the Clan put them in front by nine. The Wolves would come back and chip away at the lead, including scoring the final six points of the half, to trail by just three at halftime (35-32).

In the second half WOU would cut the lead to two points multiple times but they never got the equalizing basket. The Clan would build their lead to 18 points before Western Oregon battled back to cut it to eight with 1:35 left. SFU would make 3-of-4 free throws in the last 70 seconds and two Wolves' three-point attempts failed to find the mark as the Clan closed out the game.

The Wolves' Rylee Peterson had 19 points to lead the team. Dana Goularte came off the bench to score 10 points for the second double figure scoring game of her career.

Simon Fraser dominated the glass with a 47-24 rebounding advantage.

Western Oregon will have just one game next week when they host travel partner Saint Martin's on Saturday (Feb. 11) at 7:00 p.m.
