Men's Hoops drops road contest to UAA Seawolves

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Western Oregon men's basketball team fell behind early and were unable to recover as Alaska Anchorage went on to defeat the Wolves, 82-56, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday night. With the loss, WOU falls to 7-5 on the season, 2-2 in league play, while UAA improves to 9-4 overall and 2-3 in conference action.

After WOU was able to grab an early 17-16 lead, the game turned midway through the first half when the Seawolves used a 15-0 run to grab a commanding 14-point advantage. UAA hit three, three-pointers during the run as UAA would go on to grab a 46-26 halftime advantage.

The Wolves would be unable to make a significant dent in the UAA lead the rest of the way as Rodney Webster would lead the WOU attack, finishing with 13 points. Jordan Wiley added 11 points for the Wolves as WOU finished the night 21-of-48 from the floor.

Kyle Fossman led three UAA players in double figures with 21 points as the Seawolves used a solid effort from behind the arc to grab a commanding victory. Fossman hit five three-pointers as UAA finished 14-of-32 (43.8 percent) from behind the arc and 31-of-64 (478.4 percent) from the field against the Wolves.

WOU will look to rebound when the Wolves travel to face Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 8:00 p.m.
