Five in double figures as Men's Hoops crushes SFU

Wolves cruise to an 89-54 victory.

BURNABY, B.C. – The Western Oregon men's basketball team finished with five players in double figures as the Wolves cruised to a convincing, 89-54, victory over Simon Fraser on Thursday night. With the win, WOU improves to 10-11 overall, 5-8 in league play, while SFU falls to 6-16, 1-13 in conference action.

Andy Avgi led five WOU players in double figures with 17 points while Tyler Funk came off the bench to add 15 as the Wolves shot 34-of-65 (52.3 percent) from the field.

Kolton Nelson went 5-of-9 from the floor to finish with 14 points as James Gehring (12 points) and Jordan Wiley (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Wolves.

WOU did a majority of its damage from behind the three-point line as the Wolves went 11-of-19 from behind the arc. The Wolves also held a decided, 52-28 on the boards as WOU cruised to its biggest victory of the season.

With WOU holding an 18-12 lead with 10:38 remaining in the first half, the Wolves used a 26-7 run to grab a 44-19 advantage with two minutes remaining. The Wolves would build a lead as big as 42 points in the second half as WOU had no problem cruising to its biggest win of the season.

Anto Olah led the Clan with 21 points as the Wolves held SFU to just 21-of-67 (31.3 percent) from the field.

WOU will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 16, when the Wolves travel to Bellingham, Wash., for a contest against No. 2 Western Washington at 7:00 p.m.
