Box Score ELLENSBURG, Wash. Andy Avgi led four Western Oregon men's basketball players in double figures with 22 points; however, it would not be enough as Central Washington claimed a 107-87 victory over the Wolves in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday night. The loss eliminated the Wolves from postseason contention as WOU fell to 10-15 overall and 8-9 in conference play.

Avgi, the Wolves leading scorer, finished the evening 7-of-11 from the floor and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line to lead WOU. James Gehring added 15 points while Kolton Nelson (11) and Devon Alexander (10) also scored in double figures for the Wolves.

WOU finished the night 34-of-69 from the field (49.3 percent) and 7-of-22 from behind the three-point line.

Despite the strong effort on the offensive end, it was not enough to overcome a red-hot Central Washington squad. The Wildcats shot 40-of-69 from the field (58.0 percent) and an impressive 9-of-20 from behind the arc.

Mark McLaughlin led CWU with 29 points while shooting 10-of-14 from the field while Jordan Coby added 23 for the Wildcats.

The game was tight throughout the first half as the Wildcats held a slim, 48-42, lead at the break; however, CWU used a 17-7 run to open the second half and build a 17-point lead.

The win for the Wildcats clinched a spot at the GNAC Men's Basketball Tournament as CWU avenged a triple-overtime loss to the Wolves earlier this season.

WOU will return to action when the Wolves close out the 2012-13 campaign when they travel to Nampa, Idaho, to face Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m.
