FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Jordan Mottershaw paced the Western Oregon University women's basketball team to a Great Northwest Athletic Conference road win at the University of Alaska Saturday, 81-77.

Mottershaw scored a career-high 19 points for the Wolves (5-8, 2-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference). In her 13th collegiate game, the freshman made six of her nine shots from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

Western Oregon made a season-high 47 percent of its shots from the field in the win. The Wolves were 3-of-10 from three-point range, and 24-for-33 from the free throw line. The Nanooks were 43 percent from the field, 3-of-12 from behind-the-arc, and 20-for-26 from the free throw line.

Four other Wolves finished scoring in double digits. Dana Goularte added 16 points, a team-high nine rebounds, and a game-high five assists. Chantel Divilbiss scored 15 points, while Elise Miller and Kelsey Henry both chipped in 10 points. Mottershaw and Melissa Fowler both made four steals.

The Wolves led for the entirety of the first half. WOU built an eight-point lead twice midway through the opening half. Western Oregon led by as many as 16 points twice, before taking a 42-29 advantage into halftime. The Wolves made 60 percent of their shots from the field in the first half, while holding UAF to 31 percent.

The Nanooks slowly cut into the lead, and tied the game at 57, 13 minutes into the second half. Seconds later, Alaska had its lone lead of the game, 59-57, after a Brianna Kirk lay-in. UAF led for only a minute as Western Oregon countered with 10-1 run. The Wolves led for the majority of the final six minutes. Alaska tied the game with two minutes remaining, but never came closer.

Western Oregon forced the Nanooks into 28 turnovers. The Wolves turned that into 30-20 points off of turnover advantage. WOU committed 23 turnovers. UAF outrebounded the Wolves, 42-33. Alaska scored 18 points off of 17 offensive rebounds. The Nanooks scored 44 points in the paint, compared to Western Oregon's 38.

Alaska (8-6, 2-4 GNAC) had four players score double-digits led by Jordan Wilson's 22 points. She grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Victoria Milton added 15 points and four steals. Kirk and Autumn Childers both scored 10.

The Wolves have won nine of the last 10 meetings against Alaska, and leads a series that dates to 1976, 23-16.

Thursday, Western Washington and Western Oregon meet for the 50th time. The Vikings (7-6, 3-2) have won 41 of the 49 previous matchups. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Monmouth.
