SMU GAME NOTES (PDF)

MONMOUTH, Ore. -- The Western Oregon University men's basketball team welcomes its travel partner for its lone game this week. The Wolves face Saint Martin's University (Wash.) Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

WESTERN OREGON WELCOMES TRAVEL PARTNER
• Western Oregon's lone game of the game of the week is against Saint Martin's University for a GNAC matchup Saturday.
• The game will be televised throughout the Willamette Valley on KWVT television.
• Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the New P.E. Building. The game will be broadcast online on WOUWolves.com.

LAST TIME OUT
• Central Washington held off Western Oregon in double overtime,
106-103, last Saturday.
• Mark McLaughlin led all scorers with 39 points, the most by an individual opponent in the Brady Bergeson era.
• He made all 16 of his free throws, and the Wildcats were 32-of-34.
• The 50-minute game featured 19 ties and 16 lead changes.
• Rodney Webster finished with a career-high 28 points for WOU.

WESTERN OREGON STORYLINES
• After winning six straight games, Western Oregon has lost back-to-back games, both on the road last week.
• The Wolves are third in NCAA Div. II with 155 total steal. Their 9.7 steals per game is 11th in the nation. Both stats lead the conference.
• Devon Alexander leads the conference with 30 total steals and 1.88 steals per outing.
• After scoring four points in his debut, Marwan Sarhan has reached double digit scoring in 14 of the past 15 games.
• Sarhan is 28th in NCAA Div. II with a 62.0 field goal percentage.
• The Wolves are 8-0 this season when they have a better field goal percentage than their opponent this season, and 9-0 when they shoot 50 percent of better.

THE OPPOSITION
• Saint Martin's has dropped three of its last four, including both games last week at Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington.
• The Saints have won two of their 10 games away from Lacey, Wash.
• Ryan Rogers and Evan Coulter are both averaging 14 points per game for SMU. Riley Carel is adding 10 points.
• Rogers leads the Saints with 5.6 rebounds per game and Coulter averages a team-high 3.5 assists per outing.
• Carel is second in the conference in steals behind Devon Alexander.

SERIES HISTORY
• Western Oregon and Saint Martin's meet for the 59th time.
• Both programs have won 29 times in the all-time meetings, and the past 10 games have been split 5-5.
• The series dates back to a 44-39 Wolves' win in 1937.

NEXT UP...
• Western Oregon welcomes Alaska-Anchorage on Jan. 23.
• The Wolves and UAA meet for the 31st time.
