SMU GAME NOTES (PDF)

MONMOUTH, Ore. -- The Western Oregon University men's basketball team travels to Saint Martin's for its lone game of the week in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action Saturday evening. The game will be the first of three key consecutive road games with five games left in the regular season. The last two are at home.

LAST TIME OUT
• Western Oregon used a key 11-0 run late in the second half to pull away from Northwest Nazarene Monday.
• The game was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but postponed due to inclement weather.
• The Wolves won their second straight game by outscoring NNU, 13-1, in the final six minutes of the game.
• Four Wolves finished with double-digit scoring, led by Rodney Webster's 15 points. Andy Avgi had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
• The game featured three lead changes and three ties.

WESTERN OREGON STORYLINES
• Western Oregon has won three of its last four games, and sits in the key sixth spot in the GNAC standings with five games left.
• The top six teams advance to the GNAC postseason tournament.
• The Wolves are seventh in NCAA Div. II with a 214 total steal. Their 9.3 steals per game is 10th in the nation. Both stats lead the conference.
• Devon Alexander leads the conference with 47 steals. His 2.0 steals per outing is second in the GNAC. Rodney Webster is fifth at 1.5.
• The Wolves are 10-1 this season when they have a better field goal percentage than their opponent, and 9-0 when they shoot 50 percent of better.

ABOUT THE SAINTS
• After losing three straight, Saint Martin's has won two of its last three, but come into the game after a 77-73 home loss to Central Washington.
• The Saints are 2-4 in GNAC games at home this season.
• Ryan Rogers and Evan Coulter are both averaging 15 points per game for SMU. Riley Carel is adding nine points.
• Rogers leads the Saints with 6.3 rebounds per game and Coulter averages a team-high 3.4 assists per outing.
• Carel is fourth in the conference in steals averaging 1.7 per game.

SERIES HISTORY
• Western Oregon and Saint Martin's meet for the 60th time.
• In an almost dead-even series, SMU leads 30-29 in the all-time meetings, and the past 10 games have been split 5-5.
• The Saints lost their 20-point second half lead in the last meeting, but held on for a win at WOU earlier this season.

NEXT UP...
• Western Oregon visits Alaska on Feb. 20. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. AT.
• The Nanooks won the first meeting this season, 60-56.
