ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The University of Alaska-Anchorage men's basketball team made a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record 27 three-pointers in a 96-77 win over Western Oregon University Saturday.

The Seawolves (17-11, 10-7 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) went 27-for-41 from behind-the-arc, while making 7-of-14 from inside the perimeter. Kyle Fossman also broke a conference record making 12 of his 16 three-pointers. On Senior Night, the senior finished with a career-high 40 points. He also grabbed a game-high six rebounds.

Playing in the final UAA men's basketball game inside the Wells Fargo Center ever, the Seawolves closed the building in style. The victory sealed a spot for Alaska-Anchorage in the GNAC tournament. The 27 made three-pointers matched their own conference record set earlier this season. Alaska-Anchorage made 61 percent of its shots from the field and only shot three free throws all night, making one. UAA finished the game with 30 assists, the most in GNAC play this season.

Travis Thompson added 33 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field. The junior made eight of his 12 three-point attempts. Colton Lauwers scored 12 points. Brian McGill dished out 10 assists.

The Seawolves improved their shooting as the game progressed. After shooting 46 percent from the field in the first half, they connected on 82 percent of their attempts in the second half. Alaska-Anchorage made 13-of-25 from behind-the-arc in the opening half, compared to 14-of-16 in the second.

In the first meeting this season in Monmouth, UAA made 19 of its 39 three-pointers. In both meetings this year, the Seawolves are 46-for-80 from three-point range against Western Oregon. Alaska-Anchorage has also totaled 52 assists in the two matchups.

In a game that had only one tie and no lead changes, Saturday, the Wolves shot 43 percent from the field. They made five of their six three-pointers in the first half, and finished 6-of-24 from three-point range. WOU also made 15 of its 18 free throws. Western Oregon had a 30-28 edge in rebounds. It also committed only eight turnovers to UAA's 15.

Rodney Webster led four double-digit scorers for Western Oregon (15-11, 8-8 GNAC). The senior had 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. He also made five steals. Andy Avgi and Devon Alexander both scored 11, while Jordan Wiley added 10. Alexander had four assists. Marwan Sarhan grabbed five rebounds.

Western Oregon needs one victory to clinch its spot in the conference tournament. The top six teams qualify for the postseason tournament and only two spots are still available. WOU is currently tied for fifth with Montana State Billings in the conference standings, but holds the tiebreaker over the Yellowjackets after sweeping the season series. If the season ended today, the Wolves would be matched up with Alaska-Anchorage in the fourth-seed for fifth-seed matchup. But, Central Washington is only one game behind MSUB and Western Oregon.

The Wolves return to Monmouth for the final two games of the regular season. WOU welcomes Simon Fraser Wednesday in a game that will be broadcast on ROOT Sports. Western Oregon won the first meeting, 87-83, in Burnaby, B.C. The game will reach nine million homes across 18 states during the broadcast. Fans are encouraged to wear black to support the Wolves, and the first 100 students at the game will be given a free "ROOT for WOU" shirt. The broadcast begins at 7 p.m., and fans are suggested to arrive early for seating.
