MONMOUTH, Ore. – A penalty kick goal from senior
Makana Pundyke late in the first half was the lone tally in a 1-0 win for Western Oregon women's soccer team in a non-conference match against the Evergreen State College at WOU Soccer Field.

The final non-league match on the schedule before Great Northwest Athletic Conference play begins on Saturday allowed the Wolves (4-1) to start some of their younger athletes and get them critical in-match minutes.

In the 25
th minute, WOU head coach substituted six of his regular starters paying immediate dividends. Junior midfielder
Mariah Konyn fired a shot missing high just two minutes after the player switch. Three minutes after that, Pundyke sprinted with the ball on the left side and was fouled in the box, earning a penalty shot. Pundyke took the shot and beat the ESC goalie clean to the left side for a 1-0 lead.

Western Oregon controlled the momentum for the majority of the match, outshooting the Geoducks 24 to five, including 9-0 with shots on goal.

Nicole Tejada did not face a shot on goal to pick up her first solo shutout of the season.
