INDEPENDENCE, Ore. – In front of the biggest crowd of the season during Homecoming weekend and on Senior Day 2016, the Western Oregon women's soccer team fell 1-0 to visiting Simon Fraser at Panther Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Clan scored the lone goal of the match in the 29
th minute on a second effort from Emma Pringle. At the 28:20 mark, Pringle fired a shot from short range that was saved off the foot of WOU keeper
Caitlin Kastelic. The rebound off Kastelic bounded to the right of the box toward Jenna Baxter, who slotted a pass back to Pringle for a wide open goal.

Although the score favored Simon Fraser, the Wolves had good scoring chances. Prior to Pringle's goal, senior
Taylor Higa fired high of the goal in the 27
th minute and clanged one off the cross bar a minute later. In the first half, Higa paced WOU with five shots, with three on goal. The crossbar would also claim a shot from junior
Meli Cortez in the 45
th minute.

Opportunities lessened in the second half, but the looks were quality for Western Oregon. Nearly 15 minutes into the period, senior Michaela Rapozo fired a shot high and three minutes later, Higa's shot was saved by SFU keeper Priya Sandhu.

A final shot from Higa in the 75
th minute missed the net to the left. Simon Fraser limited chances over the last 15 minutes, denying the Wolves an equalizer.

Western Oregon drops to 4-10-1 on the year and 1-8-1 in the GNAC. Simon Fraser remained three points up on Concordia for the fourth conference playoff spot improving to       8-5-1, 6-4-0 in the league. The Wolves open their final week of the regular season hosting Saint Martin's on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.
