ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Wolves softball team closed out a weekend tournament against host Dixie State. Crooked numbers in five innings led the second-ranked Red Storm to a 13-5 victory over Western Oregon on Sunday at Karl Brooks Field.

Offensively, the Wolves (3-6) had a pair of home runs in a three-run fourth inning.
Alex Frazier homered to center field for a two-run shot and
Mercedes Green followed three batters later with a solo homer to left field. In the fifth inning, a single by
Ryanne Huffman plated
Destiny Kuehl and Kelsie Gardenr after the pair led off the frame with consecutive singles.

In the circle,
Stephanie Morgan surrendered five runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Alyson Boytz threw 2 1/3 innings of three-hit relief, walking one.

Dixie State led 5-0 after two frames and responded to the Wolves' three-run output in the top of the fourth with a four-spot in the bottom of the inning. The Red Storm, the NCAA National Championship runner-up from a season ago, benefitted from a single, a sacrifice fly and four walks to end the game in the bottom of the sixth. Aryn Feickert struck out six to earn her fifth victory of the year.

The Wolves head to Texas next weekend to compete in the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Invite. WOU opens the weekend on Friday with a doubleheader against Newman University beginning at 2 p.m. Central (12 noon Pacific).Â
