LA JOLLA, Calif. – Western Oregon softball went scoreless against UC San Diego, falling 6-0, in their second game of the day at the Triton Softball Field.
After making a comeback from a six-run deficit against Metropolitan State earlier on Friday, the Wolves (1-1, 0-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) were unable to spark another comeback against the Tritons (3-1, 0-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association).
While Western Oregon had six hits, UC San Diego had 10. Sophomore
Alex Frazier tallied two hits, while junior
Kelsie Gardner, freshman
Ryanne Huffman, sophomore
Zoe Clark, and junior
Destiny Kuehl had one apiece.

Lizzet Dominguez started on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing six hits as well as five runs. Freshman
Haley Fabian came in to pitch the final two innings and struck out one batter.
The Tritons scored three runs right off the bat in the second inning. UC San Diego first loaded the bases and Emily Sklencar then scored after a walk. After Kelsi Maday's singled down the left field line, Taylor Abeyta and Kristin George were able to sneak another two runs home.
UC San Diego also scored two runs in the fourth inning. First, Abeyta tripled to right center, allowing George, who was on first, to score. A single from Kendall Baker then brought Abeyta home. The Tritons would complete their final run in the sixth inning as UC San Diego scored an unearned run.
The Wolves came close to putting a run on the board when Frazier doubled to right field and Clark's single advanced Frazier to third. With one out already on the line, the Tritons were able to complete a double play for the remaining outs.
The Wolves look for redemption as they face UC San Diego once again on Saturday, February 6 with the first pitch set for 12:30 p.m.
