MONMOUTH, Ore. – Junior Destiny Kuehl had five hits in seven at-bats including two home runs as the Western Oregon University softball team completed a four-game sweep over visiting Montana State Billings, 12-1 and 7-3, on Tuesday. The opening game lasted five innings.Â
The Wolves closed out a season-long eight game homestand with six win to improve to 22-19 overall and 12-8 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. MSUB fell to 10-31 overall and 2-18 in the GNAC.

GAME ONE: Western Oregon 12, Montana State Billings 1 (F/5)Kuehl went 2-for-2 with a double and a solo home run while
Alyson Boytz allowed just three hits with four strikeouts as the Wolves cruised to a 12-1 victory in five innings.

After a one-out single by junior
Emma Alfonso in the first inning, Kuehl hit a sharp ball that glanced off the glove of the MSUB shortstop and rolled all the way to the wall for a run-scoring double. Her home run led off the fourth inning that saw the Wolves score five times in building a 12-1 lead.

Boytz, meanwhile, only allowed multiple hits in one inning. She retired six of the final seven batters she faced to earn the win, improving to 8-6 on the year.

Three of the Wolves' 10 hits went for extra bases, including a double from freshman outfielder
Ryanne Huffman who had three hits on the game to lead WOU.

GAME TWO: Western Oregon 7, Montana State Billings 3The Wolves scored three times over the opening two innings and added a four-run fourth inning to complete the sweep of the Yellowjackets by the score of 7-3.

Zoe Clark hit a big blast to left field in the first for a 2-0 lead while an errant throw to second base in the second inning allowed senior
Brandy Knowles to score from third.

MSUB picked up a run against freshman pitcher
Haley Fabian in the third, but WOU cashed home four big insurance runs with a RBI single from junior Kelsie Garnder, a run-sciring double by sophomore
Alex Frazier and a two-run blast from Kuehl to center field for a 7-1 cushion.

Fabian struck out three in her complete game while scattering three runs on seven hits.

Kuehl had three of the Wolves' 11 hits as Frazier and Gardner each added two hits.

WOU travels to Idaho beginning Friday for a four-game series with Northwest Nazarene. The first pitch of Friday's doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. Mountain (1 p.m. Pacific).
