LAS VEGAS – Sammi Cadwallader and
Chandler Bishop combined on a four-hit shutout over Cal State Monterey Bay in a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Desert Stinger Classic. WOU moves to 2-3 on the season with the victory.
Â
The Wolves got on the board in the top of the first inning after a pair of leadoff bunt singles from
Kelsie Gardner and
Ryanne Huffman. A sacrifice bunt from
Destiny Kuehl move both runners into scoring position and a sharp line out by
Ashley Doyle to left field plated Gardner with the game's lone run.
Â
Cadwallader allowed just four base runners over six stellar innings while allowing just one CSUMB (4-1) runner to get to second base.
Â
Bishop entered the circle in the seventh inning. She scattered a pair of two-out hits to place the potential tying run at second base before inducing a line out to left field ending the game.
Â
Each team had four hits. The top four in the WOU lineup each had one hit.
