BELLINGHAM, Wash.—Extending its winning streak to 29 matches, the No. 1-ranked Western Washington University women's soccer team defeated Western Oregon University 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
With the result, Western Washington improved to 5-0-0 on the season while Western Oregon fell to 1-4-0. The contest represented the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both sides.
The Wolves will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 21 when they host Northwest Nazarene University. Opening kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. from the WOU Soccer Field.
WWU, the defending NCAA DII national champions, scored six times in the first half hour of play with Grace Eversaul opening up the account in the 9th minute of action. Karli White doubled the advantage in the 11th minute and Liv Larson made it a 3-0 advantage in the 16th minute. All three players returned with second goals before the break.
The Vikings outshot the Wolves 42-to-4 with 18 attempts on frame.
Alyssa Tomasini recorded the lone shot on goal attempt for WOU.
