Wolves cruise past Lutes, 106-48

MONMOUTH, Ore.— The Western Oregon Wolves dispatched the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in a 106-48, wire-to-wire win on Saturday at NPE Gym.

Leading by as many as 35 in the first half, the Wolves were persistent in the passing lanes, taking away nine steals and forcing 13 turnovers in the opening half alone. They finished with 25 total turnovers and 16 steals.

Darius Lubom totaled four steals in the first half in just 11 minutes, picking up five points and three rebounds as well.

Dalven Brushier led all scorers before the break with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

The Wolves shot 55.6% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range, taking a 58-26 lead into the break.

Kaleb Warner delivered a big second half, scoring 17 of his game-high 23 points in the half. The Redshirt Senior was electric from deep, making his first five 3-pointers and finishing 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Warner was one of five Wolves to finish in double figures and the only player to eclipse 20 points.

As a team, WOU was sharp in both interior and 3-point shooting, making 55.2% of shots in the game and 44.7% from three.

Tyler Combs led the Lutes with 11 points, getting seven of those from the free throw line. Pacific Lutheran made only three 3-pointers in the game while shooting 28.2% from the field.

The Wolves have now completed their exhibition schedule and will open regular season play Nov. 15 at home against Warner Pacific. Tipoff at NPE Gym is set for 7 p.m.
