BURNABY, B.C.—Notching a pair of goals in each half, Simon Fraser University opened up GNAC play with a 4-1 win over Western Oregon University on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Simon Fraser improved to 3-2-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in conference play. Western Oregon fell to 2-3-1 on the year. After the result, SFU is 9-7-2 all-time against WOU since 2000.
Jenna-lee Baxter opened the SFU attack with a 7th-minute strike after assists from Teagan Mackay and Carli Grosso. Baxter returned in the 31st minute with an assist to teammate Emma Pringle to help SFU double its advantage.
Alexie Morris put the Wolves on the board in the 64th minute after a feed from
Alyssa Tomasini. The scoring strike was Morris' second of the season and Tomasini's second assist of the year.
Back to holding a one-goal advantage, Simon Fraser continued its attack and added a pair of late goals over a seven-minute span to put the match out of reach. Completing the brace, Pringle scored again in the 73rd minute while Mackay put in the final goal as SFU went on to outshoot the Wolves 23 to 8 for the match.

Sydney Thomas registered two shot attempts for WOU while
Alex Qualls was credited with nine saves in goal.
The Wolves will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 20 with a home match against Montana State University Billings. Opening kick against the
Yellowjackets set for 3 p.m. at the WOU Soccer Field in Monmouth.
