Falcons Again Come Out Flying as Soccer Concludes Two Game Road Swing at SPU

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Western Oregon University soccer team ran into another tough battle with Seattle Pacific on Saturday as the Falcons scored just over two minutes in on their way to taking the 4-0 victory at Interbay Stadium.

After the Falcons (5-0) tallied the early goal, they were able to push the lead to 3-0 with a pair of goals in the 21st and 26th minute marks. WOU (1-5) kept the Falcons off the board in the second half until a goal in the 71st minute provided the final margin of 4-0.

SPU held a 23-2 edge in shots, including 12-1 on goal. The Falcons also had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Piper Matson fired a shot on goal in the first half for the Wolves and Alyssa Tomasini added a shot in the second half.

Kendall Rooney started in goal playing the first half and tallied three saves. Morgan Mihelich played the second half and also recorded three saves.

Claire Neder paced the Falcons with two goals, taking seven shots with five on goal. Travis Riley started in goal and played the first 76-plus minutes making a save. Kaitlynn Knocke went the final 13-plus minutes.

WOU will now prepare to host Northwest Nazarene in their second home game of the season this coming Saturday, Apr. 24 at 1 p.m. It will also be senior day for Tomasini, Melinda Ortega and Alexie Morris.
