MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to Simon Fraser on Thursday at WOU Soccer Field.
The Wolves (2-11-2 overall, 1-8-1 GNAC) and Red Leafs (9-5, 6-3) were scoreless at the half and it remained that way until the 69th minute when Mark Talisuna converted a penalty kick after a WOU player fouled him in the box.
Less than two minutes later SFU's Alan Camacho Soto scored on the corner kick from NIko Papakyriakopoulos to make it 2-0.
The Red Leafs outshot the Wolves 11-8 overall and 6-2 on shots on goal. SFU had nine corner kick opportunities compared to none for WOU.
Abraham Villalobos and
Andrew Carrillo Macias had two shots apiece to lead the Wolves.
Juan Suarez picked up four saves at keeper for WOU.
WOU returns to action 1:30 p.m. (PT) Saturday at Montana State Billings.
