CORVALLIS, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team kept it close early against Oregon State, but eventually fell 82-66 Sunday in an exhibition contest at Gill Coliseum.
WOU trailed just 24-21 after one and by only a point at 39-38 at the half before being outscored 43-28 in the second half.
A key for the Wolves was taking care of their possessions as they committed just eight turnovers in the contest.Â
"I'm really proud of how hard we played," WOU coach Holli Howard-Carpenter said. "We are young and short handed but we stepped up to the challenge and really played well as a team. We took care of the ball and got lots of good looks at the basket. I'm looking forward to the next two weeks of practice before we hit the road to open up the season."
Kiylynn Dawkins led the team with 19 points while
Cali McClave had 15 points and seven rebounds.
WOU opens the season Nov. 12 against Cal Poly Humboldt in Lacey, Washington.
