MONMOUTH, Oregon --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team puts its undefeated mark on the line as the Wolves travel to participate in the CCAA/GNAC Conference Challenge in Chico, California, where they will take on host Chico State on Friday and Sonoma State on Saturday.

WESTERN OREGON HEADING INTO THE SEASON | 2022-23 STATISTICS

The Wolves are coming off opening the season with a pair of wins at the SMU Classic, defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 75-69 on Saturday and Capilano 86-51 on Sunday.

Cali McClave leads the team in scoring at 18.5 points per game, assists at 4.0 per game and steals at 2.5 per game to go along with 5.5 rebounds per contest. Prncy Paaluhi-Caulk is averaging 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assits and 1.5 steals, Kiylyyn Dawkins is averaging 12 points, 3.0 rebounds and is shooting 71.4 percent from the field while Kylee Arzner is averaging 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

The Wolves as a team are shooting 48 percent from teh field despite going 6-for-38 (15.8 percent) from 3-point range.


OPPONENTS THIS WEEK ... CHICO STATE STATS | SONOMA STATE STATS
Chico State opened its season at the CCAA/PacWest Tipoff Challenge, losing on Friday to Fresno Pacific 59-49 (Haley Ison comes off the bench for a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in just 24 minutes before fouling out) and defeating Dominican 68-62 on Saturday (Makenzi Laporte leads the way with a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds).

Sonoma State was also at the same event and - like Chico State - defeated Dominican (65-53 on Friday led by 11 points from Cielo Gonzalez) and losing to Fresno Pacific (60-53 on Saturday led by Alli McDonald's 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots).

WOLVES PICKED NINTH IN GNAC PRESEASON POLL
The Western Oregon women's basketball team was selected to finish ninth in the GNAC Preseason Poll when it was released Oct. 21. The Wolves finished with 22 points, finishing ahead of Alaska (15) and behind Saint Martin's (27). Western Washington was picked first with 98 points and eight first points followed by Alaska Anchorage (84 points, one first-place vote) and Montana State Billings (81 points, one first-place vote). WOU went 9-17 overall and 5-13 in the GNAC last season - finishing eighth in the conference.
