MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's soccer program officially begins 2 p.m. Friday as the Wolves play their first game in program history when they host Hawai'i Pacific 2 p.m. Friday at WOU Soccer Field.
WOLVES HEADING INTO THE SEASON
The Wolves are embarking on their first season in program history and the knowledge of the team will come as the season unfolds.
What is known at this point is
Jesus Jeronimo Gotoo and
Enrique Gomez have been tabbed the team's captains for the 2022 campaign. Jeronimo Gotoo Played at Highline Community College the previous two seasons and helped the school win the NWAC championship last season - starting 15 of the 17 games he played while scoring a goal and adding two assists. He's from Seattle, but was born in Mexico City. Gomez played a pair of seasons at Taft College and the defender started 36 of his 37 games for the school. He's from Strathmore, California.
HAWAI'I PACIFIC HEADING INTO THE SEASON | 2021 STATISTICS
The Sharks are coming off an 8-6-2 mark in 2021, including 6-2-2 in Pacific West Conference play. HPU returns three of their top four scorers from a year ago in Sebastian Navarro (three goals, two assists), Makana Srvongsana (two goals, two assists) and Reece Montgomery (two goals, one assist). Their top goalkeeper also returns in Jeremy Zielinski (1.07 GAA, 0.813 save percentage, eight shutouts, 8-4-2 record).
