MONMOUTH, Ore. — The Western Oregon women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against first-place Seattle Pacific at WOU Turf Field on a Thursday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, SPU (9-2-3, 6-0-3) found the back of the net in the 46th minute. In the 54th minute, the Wolves (7-2-4, 4-2-3) evened the contest when Raeanne Jones fired into the bottom right corner a penalty kick. With her goal today, Jones is first in the GNAC for points per game (1.33) and tied for first in goals per game (.50).
The match was closely contested as each team recorded nine shots, but SPU had more shots on goal (6-4).
Goalkeeper Sophia Pierce played a key role as she recorded four saves. After today's match, Pierce's save percentage sits at 79.5 percent.
The Wolves remain in third place in the GNAC as they prepare for Saturday's 11 a.m. matchup against Montana State Billings at WOU Soccer Field.
