BURNABY, B.C. --- The Western Oregon men's basketball team used a late run to pull away from Simon Fraser 67-58 Saturday night at West Gym.
The Wolves (4-8 overall, 1-3 GNAC) trailed by as much as seven in the second half before taking a slim 59-58 advantage on the Red Leafs with 3:40 left in the game.Â
The WOU defense stepped up big while the Wolves went on an 8-0 run to end the contest - ignited by a
Makaio Morphy 3-pointer with 3:15 left in the contest - to come away with the win.
Kris Cook paced the Wolves with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
Cameron Benzel had 17 points and 12 rebounds,
Jason Gallant finished with 13 points and eight rebounds while Morphy went a perfect 3-for-3 from long distance for nine points.
WOU returns to action next Saturday at Saint Martin's.
