BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- For the first time in 15 matches the Western Oregon men's soccer team didn't score a goal as the Wolves fell at Western Washington 1-0 on Thursday night at Harrington Field.
WOU (13-3-1 overall, 9-2 GNAC) has already clinched the GNAC title and an NCAA regional berth - but is looking to keep its momentum rolling heading into the postseason (the men don't have a conference tournament).
The contest was scoreless through the first 83-plus minutes before the Vikings (10-5-3, 8-3-1) scored off a rebound on a WOU keeper
Andre Schlaefli save to take the lead for good.
The Wolves hadn't been held scoreless since falling to then-No. 2 CSU Pueblo 3-0 to start the season. It's only the fourth time in the past two seasons (33 matches) WOU has been held scoreless.
The Wolves look to regain momentum Saturday at Northwest Nazarene to close out the regular season. The NCAA reveals the 40-team Division II field 3:30 p.m. Monday - that's when WOU will know where, when and who it will play.
