SEATTLE --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team took an early lead, but couldn't hold on as the fourth-seeded Wolves fell to top-seeded Western Washington 3-1 in the GNAC Championships semifinals on Thursday at Interbay Stadium.
The Wolves finish the seasons 6-6-8.
WOU went ahead in the 20th minute when
Jada Foster just past midfield found
Hadlie Bullock down the right side. Bullock then crossed it over the middle where
Ciara Garcia was there to put it away with a header to make it 1-0.
The score remained that way until the 41st minute when the Vikings (13-2-5) found the back of the net to tie it. The score was that way through halftime before WWU scored two goals in a 2:04 span early in the second half to take a lead it wouldn't relinquish.
The Wolves were outshot in the contest 12-5, including 6-2 on goal. It's the first time this season WOU has allowed more than two goals in a game.
