SEASIDE, Calif. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team scored early, but ended up picking up its third draw in four contests this season against Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday night at Cardinale Stadium.
The Wolves (0-1-3) picked up an early lead on the Otters (1-1-2) when
Olivia Fothergill scored her first goal of the season and as a Wolf in the third minute.Â
WOU's defense held strong through the rest of the first half to hold the 1-0 lead, however, in the 51st minute - the CSUMB was awarded a penalty kick that Tiger Rendon converted to make it 1-1 - which ended up being the final.
The Wolves were outshot 12-6 in the contest (4-2 on shots on goal).
Briana Kubli and
Ally Beavers each had two shots for WOU while
Sophia Pierce had three saves.
The Wolves head to Hawaii this week as they take on Hawaii Hilo 3 p.m. Thursday in their final non-conference contest.
