TURLOCK, Calif. --- The 8th-seeded Western Oregon men's soccer team fell in the final minutes to No. 9 Hawai'i Hilo 3-2 on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA DII Championships at Warrior Stadium.
The Wolves (10-5-4 overall) fell behind 1-0 in the ninth minute and the score remained that way until an
Alex Grignon goal in the 56th minute tied it up. The Vulcans (12-5-2) regained the lead in the 68th minute, however.
But WOU was awarded a penalty kick in the 84th minute and GNAC Player of the Year
Yahir Ocampo Navarro scored the equalizer with just six minutes remaining.
However, the Vulcans scored in the 89th minute to come away with the win.
