NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon men's basketball team rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit and defeated Cal State Los Angeles 74-70 on Saturday at Johnson Sports Center.
The Wolves (3-3 overall) trailed by as much as 11 in the first half before cutting it to seven at 35-28 thanks to a bucket from
Parker Baumann.
WOU started the second half on a 14-3 run with
Jadin Penigar scoring 10 of those to take a 42-38 lead with 15:13 left in the contest.
The contest remained close the rest of the way with neither team leading by more than four points as WOU was able to close it out by going 5-for-6 from the line in the final 19 seconds.
Penigar finished with 25 points (going 10-for-10 from the line) while adding seven rebounds and two assists. Baumann had 10 points and four rebounds while
AB Gilchrist had nine points, five assists and three rebounds.
The Wolves open GNAC play 7:30 p.m. Thursday when they host Alaska Fairbanks.
